EUSAIR
The European Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region, commonly known as EUSAIR, is a macro-regional strategy launched by the European Commission in 2014. Its primary aim is to foster cooperation among the countries bordering the Adriatic and Ionian Seas to promote economic and social prosperity and to address common challenges. The participating countries include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, San Marino, Serbia, Slovenia, and North Macedonia. EUSAIR is built upon four thematic pillars: Blue Growth, Green Innovation, Connecting the Region, and Cultural and Tourist Accessibility. These pillars guide the implementation of projects and initiatives aimed at improving competitiveness, sustainability, connectivity, and quality of life in the region. The strategy operates through a network of national and regional contact points, with a rotating presidency among the participating countries. EUSAIR promotes dialogue and collaboration, encouraging the exchange of best practices and the development of joint projects that can attract funding from various European Union instruments. It serves as a framework for enhanced cooperation and integrated territorial development across a significant European geographical area.
