ETV

ETV, short for Eesti Televisioon (Estonian Television), is the flagship television channel of Estonia’s public broadcasting organization, Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR). The channel traces its origins to 1955, when Estonian Television began broadcasting in the Estonian SSR. After Estonia’s independence and the creation of ERR, ETV became the main general‑purpose channel within the public broadcaster’s portfolio.

ETV broadcasts a broad mix of programming, including news, current affairs, documentaries, entertainment, culture, and children’s programs. The channel emphasizes Estonian-language content and serves as a platform for civic information, cultural programming, and educational material. The primary news offering is the long‑running Aktuaalne kaamera (AC), complemented by regional reports and feature programming.

Within ERR’s structure, ETV has sister channels such as ETV2, which focuses more on culture, documentary, and niche programming, and other channel offerings that complement the public service remit. ETV’s distribution extends beyond traditional broadcast to online platforms, with live streams and on‑demand access available via ERR’s services (ERR.ee and ERR Player).
