ENsertifikaatit

ENsertifikaatit is a Finnish term used to describe certificates that attest conformity with European Norms (EN standards). EN standards are European specifications for safety, performance, and interoperability, developed by the standard bodies CEN, CENELEC, and ETSI and harmonized across the European Union and the European Economic Area. When a product, process, or system complies with a harmonized EN standard applicable under a EU directive, a conformity assessment body (often a notified body) may issue a certificate of conformity. This certificate supports market access and is typically the basis for the CE marking under the relevant directive.

ENsertifikaatit are not themselves standards but formal attestations that an assessment against the specified EN requirements has been completed. The assessment can include elements such as product testing, inspection of the manufacturing process (factory production control), and, depending on the directive and standard, type examination or quality management system evaluation. The certificate documents the scope, the applicable standard numbers, the parties involved, validity period, and any conditions of use.

In practice, ENsertifikaatit facilitate cross-border trade within the EU/EEA and are often used in procurement and regulatory compliance. Standards are periodically reviewed and updated; certificates may require renewal or surveillance to remain valid if the standard version changes or ongoing conformity is maintained.
