ENTtieteen

ENTtieteen is a Finnish pop-rock band from Tampere, established in 1990. The group's name is an acronym of its founding members: Jari Sinkkonen (vocals and guitar), Niina Pylkkänen (lead vocals and guitar), and Tomi Saukkonen (drums). The lineup was later completed by the addition of Vera Riippa (keyboards) and Pekka Luoto (bass).

ENTtieteen gained significant popularity in Finland during the mid-1990s, largely due to the success of their debut album'Kiljahti'. The album's title track became a chart-topper in Finland, exceeding 100,000 album sales. Critics praised the band's eclectic sound, which blended elements of pop, rock, and alternative music. Their early work was characterized as introspective and melancholic, with lyrics often focusing on themes of love, identity, and social critique.

Throughout the 1990s, ENTtieteen released two more studio albums:'Pahamoinen Beka' and 'Kallio'. These albums further solidified the band's following in Finland and beyond. The group's musical style evolved over time, incorporating a more experimental approach to songwriting and instrumentation. Although less commercially successful, their later work was met with critical acclaim by fans and critics of indie music.

In 2000, the band announced a hiatus due to internal creative differences. Since then, there have been occasional reunions, most notably in 2010 for a one-off performance. The group's music has maintained a loyal following in Finland and internationally, with a notable cult following among fans of 1990s Finnish alternative rock.
