EMobilitätLade refers to the charging ecosystem for electric mobility, including the physical charging points, electrical infrastructure, and related services that enable EV charging. It covers residential, commercial, and public charging, as well as the interoperability and governance that allow users to access multiple networks.

Charging is categorized as AC charging (alternating current) for slower charging and DC charging (direct current) for fast charging. In Europe, the Type 2 connector is common for AC charging, while DC fast charging typically uses CCS (Combined Charging System) or CHAdeMO, with CCS increasingly dominant. Standards bodies such as IEC and ISO provide specifications (IEC 62196 for connectors, IEC 61851 for charging modes, ISO 15118 for vehicle-to-grid).

AC charging at home or work generally ranges from 3.7 kW to 22 kW, while DC fast charging can deliver 50 kW and above, enabling shorter refueling times. Public networks often provide a mix of fast and ultra-fast chargers. Availability, reliability, and payment methods vary by location, and many networks support roaming across operators.

Interoperability is promoted through universal cards, apps, and roaming agreements, while tariffs include per-minute, per-kWh, or flat rates, sometimes with dynamic pricing aligned to grid conditions. Smart charging and demand response help integrate charging with the electric grid and renewable energy.

Emerging topics include bidirectional charging (V2G), battery swap concepts in some markets, and continued standardization to improve safety, user experience, and grid integration.
