This padding scheme is a method for transforming a message before it is encrypted using the RSA algorithm.

The purpose of padding is to add randomness and ensure that the data being encrypted has a specific structure, which is important for the security of RSA. Without proper padding, RSA can be vulnerable to various attacks. EMSAPKCS1v15 works by prepending a specific sequence of bytes to the message. This sequence typically starts with a byte value of 0x00, followed by a byte value of 0x02, then a sequence of randomly generated non-zero bytes, and finally the original message itself. The length of the padding is determined by the size of the RSA key.

If the padding is invalid, the decryption is typically considered a failure, and no message is revealed. While widely used, it's important to note that PKCS1v15 has known vulnerabilities in certain scenarios, and newer padding schemes like OAEP (Optimal Asymmetric Encryption Padding) are often preferred for enhanced security.
