Dëgjimi

Dëgjimi is an Albanian noun that denotes the act or capacity of hearing. It can refer to the physiological sense of hearing—the ability to perceive sound—as well as to the act of listening or paying attention. In formal or institutional language, dëgjimi also describes a formal procedure in which testimony and evidence are examined, often translated as “hearing” or “public hearing” in English.

The term derives from the verb dëgjoj, meaning “to hear,” with the noun-forming suffix -imi. In everyday usage, it appears in expressions describing how well someone can hear, for example “dëgjimi i mirë” (good hearing) or “dëgjimi i dobët” (poor hearing). The related verb dhegjoj means “to listen” or “to hear” in the sense of perception or attention, while dëgjuar is the past participle meaning “heard.”

In legal and governmental contexts, dëgjimi refers to a formal proceeding where information is presented and examined.
