Dunkelraum
Dunkelraum is a term originating from German, literally translating to "dark room." It is most commonly associated with the photographic darkroom, a space where traditional film photography negatives are developed and printed. This process requires complete darkness to prevent light from exposing the photosensitive materials prematurely. Photographers use safelights, which emit light in a spectrum that does not affect the photographic paper, to work within the darkroom. Essential equipment includes developing trays, chemicals like developer and fixer, a timer, and often an enlarger for creating prints.
