Dolomiittikiveä

Dolomiittikiveä, or dolomite rock, is a sedimentary carbonate rock composed primarily of the mineral dolomite. Dolomite is a calcium magnesium carbonate with the chemical formula CaMg(CO3)2. This rock is typically formed through the diagenesis of calcium carbonate sediments, such as limestone, where magnesium-rich pore waters alter the original calcium carbonate. Alternatively, it can be precipitated directly from marine or lacustrine environments where the concentration of magnesium is sufficiently high.

Dolomite rock is often grey, white, or brown in color, though impurities can give it other hues. It is generally harder and denser than limestone.
