Docklands
Docklands is a term used for port-adjacent districts along a city’s waterfront. These areas typically originated as working docks and warehousing zones and, following shifts in shipping and urban planning, have often been redeveloped into mixed-use neighborhoods with offices, housing, retail, and cultural facilities. Redevelopment programs in the late 20th century aimed to revitalize distressed waterfronts, attract investment, and create new urban economies.
