Dobzhansky
Theodius Dobzhansky was a prominent evolutionary biologist, best known for his foundational work in the field of population genetics and his significant contributions to the modern evolutionary synthesis. Born in Ukraine in 1900, he later moved to the United States, where much of his influential research took place. Dobzhansky's studies, particularly his extensive work with fruit flies (Drosophila), provided crucial empirical evidence for the integration of genetics and natural selection.
His most famous book, "Genetics and the Origin of Species" (1937), published as part of the Columbia
Dobzhansky's research also highlighted the significance of genetic diversity in the survival and adaptation of populations.
