Diskelektroder

Diskelektroder, often translated as disc electrodes, are a common type of electrode used in electrochemistry. They are characterized by their flat, circular shape, typically made of a conductive material such as platinum, gold, glassy carbon, or various metal alloys. The precise material choice depends on the specific electrochemical application, considering factors like reactivity, conductivity, and potential for fouling.

The defining feature of a diskelektrod is its planar working surface, which allows for a well-defined area for electrochemical reactions to occur. This geometric simplicity is advantageous for quantitative measurements, as it facilitates straightforward calculation of current density from measured current and known electrode area. They are often mounted in an insulating material, such as Teflon or PEEK, with only the conductive disc exposed to the electrolyte solution.
