Dirfi
Dirfi, written in Greek as Δίρφυς, is a geographic name in Greece used for Mount Dirfi, the highest peak on the island of Evia (Euboea), and for nearby settlements that derive their name from the mountain. Oros Dirfys lies in northern-central Evia and forms part of a rugged interior range. The summit reaches about 1,743 meters above sea level, making it the island’s highest point. The mountain’s slopes feature mixed forests at lower elevations and rocky, exposed terrain higher up, with streams and gorges shaping the landscape. Human activity in the area has historically centered on grazing, forestry, and small-scale agriculture, with several nearby villages adopting the Dirfi name in local toponymy.
Access is provided by roads linking Evia’s inland towns to coastal areas, and the region is popular
