Diodové

Diodové is an adjective used in Czech and Slovak to describe things relating to diodes (dioda). In technical usage, it encompasses diodes as components, the circuits that use them, and the phenomena they exhibit.

A diode is a two-terminal semiconductor device that conducts current predominantly in one direction. In forward bias, a diode permits current with a voltage drop typically around 0.2–0.7 V for different materials; in reverse bias, current is very small until breakdown in specialized devices.

Common diode types include: p-n junction diodes based on silicon or germanium; Schottky diodes with low forward voltage and fast switching; Zener diodes designed to regulate voltage in reverse bias; light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes that convert electrical energy into light; photodiodes used to detect light; and varactor diodes used to vary capacitance in RF circuits.

Applications of diodové concepts include rectification in power supplies, switching and signal demodulation, protection against reverse polarity and overvoltage, clamping and shaping of waveforms, and optical sensing and communication.

Historically, diode technology evolved from vacuum-tube diodes to semiconductor diodes in the mid-20th century, enabling compact electronics and new functionalities. The term dioda derives from Greek roots meaning one-way path. The adjective diodové appears in documentation, schematics, and textbooks to label diode-related components and behavior.
