Dingledine is an American computer scientist and privacy advocate best known for co-founding The Tor Project. He was one of the principal developers of the Tor anonymity network, which originated as The Onion Router and was designed to protect user privacy by routing traffic through a network of volunteer-run servers with layered encryption (onion routing).
