Difuusioonipõlemine

Difuusioonipõlemine is a type of combustion where fuel and oxidizer mix in the reaction zone. Unlike premixed combustion, where fuel and oxidizer are mixed before entering the reaction zone, in diffusion flames, the mixing occurs simultaneously with the burning process. This means that the fuel diffuses into the oxidizer and the oxidizer diffuses into the fuel, and the reaction takes place at the interface where they meet. The flame shape and behavior are heavily influenced by the rate of diffusion and the flow patterns of the fuel and oxidizer.

Common examples of diffusion flames include candles, gas stoves, and many industrial burners. The visible flame is typically yellow and can be luminescent due to the presence of incandescent soot particles, which are formed when the fuel does not completely combust due to insufficient oxygen. The temperature in a diffusion flame is generally lower and more variable compared to premixed flames because the reaction rate is limited by the diffusion process rather than the chemical kinetics. Control of diffusion flames often involves managing the flow rates and geometry of the fuel and oxidizer streams to achieve stable and efficient combustion.
