Didact
Didact is a term with two primary senses. In English, it is an archaic or literary noun meaning a teacher or instructor, derived from the Greek didaktikos, meaning “taught” or “skilled in teaching,” from didaskein, “to teach.” The common adjective didactic, as in didactic literature or didactic instruction, shares the same root and emphasizes instruction or moralizing aims. In modern usage, didact as a stand-alone noun is uncommon outside historical or scholarly contexts; didactic is far more widely used to describe instructional content or methods.
