Dichtstellen
Dichtstellen are points, joints, or interfaces in technical systems where a seal is provided to prevent the passage of liquids, gases, or vapors. They occur wherever two components meet or where openings are closed, such as flange connections, valve housings, lids, access doors, weld seams, and penetrations through walls or shells. In practice, a Dichtstelle may consist of a gasket, an O-ring, a mechanical seal, a welded joint, or a sealant, depending on the application, operating pressure, temperature, and the properties of the contained medium.
In engineering, the choice and design of a Dichtstelle depend on several factors, including the chemical compatibility
Testing and maintenance are integral to Dichtstellen. Tightness tests such as pressure or vacuum tests, helium
