Dibenzoates
Dibenzoates are a class of organic compounds that are esters of dibasic acids, specifically those derived from benzoic acid. This means they have two benzoate groups attached to a central molecule, often an alcohol or a glycol. The most common examples are diesters of phthalic acid, often referred to as phthalates. These compounds are characterized by the presence of two ester linkages and aromatic benzene rings.
Dibenzoates find widespread use as plasticizers, particularly in polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Their ability to increase flexibility
