Desítková

Desítková is a Czech feminine adjective used to denote relation to ten or to the decimal base. In mathematical and educational texts it appears in phrases such as desítková soustava (the decimal numeral system) or desítková číslice, referring to symbols used in base-10 notation. The form is the feminine singular agreeing with feminine nouns like soustava or číslice.

The desítková soustava, or base-10 numeral system, is a positional system that uses ten digits: 0 through 9. The value of a digit depends on its position and is a multiple of a power of ten. This system originated from Hindu-Arabic numerals and became the global standard because it is well suited for arithmetic operations and learning. In everyday life decimal notation is used for counting, money, measurements and scientific data. In computing, numbers are processed in binary or other bases, but decimal representations remain essential for human interaction and input.

In Czech usage, desítková describes things written or expressed in decimal form, as opposed to other bases such as dvojková (binary) or šestnáctková (hexadecimal).
