Destillatsioonitööriistade, commonly referred to as distillation apparatus or equipment, are essential tools used in the process of distillation. This process involves the separation of components or substances from a liquid mixture by selective boiling and condensation. The fundamental principle behind distillation is the difference in the boiling points of the substances within the mixture.

A typical distillation apparatus consists of several key components. The boiling flask, also known as the distillation flask or still pot, holds the liquid mixture to be distilled. This flask is heated, causing the liquid to vaporize. The vapor then rises and enters the condenser. The condenser is designed to cool the vapor, causing it to condense back into a liquid. Common types of condensers include the Liebig condenser, West condenser, and Graham condenser, each with varying designs for efficient heat exchange.

The condensed liquid, known as the distillate, is then collected in a receiving flask or collection vessel. A thermometer is often placed at the vapor path, just before it enters the condenser, to monitor the temperature of the vapor. This temperature reading is crucial for identifying the substance being distilled, as it corresponds to its boiling point. Adapters and connectors are used to link these components together securely and create an airtight system, preventing vapor loss.

For laboratory purposes, smaller glass apparatus are commonly used, while industrial-scale distillation employs larger, more robust equipment often made of metal.
