In this view, linguistic meaning is anchored in structured mental representations that can, in principle, be articulated through deductive reasoning. Descartesem treats the mind as the primary source of certitude for understanding language, while allowing empirical data to refine but not replace the rational apparatus.

The term appears in online philosophy forums and some experimental discussions as a thought-experiment rather than a developed doctrine. It is sometimes presented as a provocative way to test how far a rationalist account can accommodate contemporary findings in semantics and cognitive science.
