Dependentcoarising

Dependentcoarising is a term used in certain philosophical discussions, particularly within Buddhist philosophy, to describe a type of causation where phenomena arise in dependence on other phenomena. It is a fundamental concept within the doctrine of dependent origination (pratītyasamutpāda). This doctrine posits that all conditioned things arise in a chain of cause and effect, where each link is both a cause for what follows and an effect of what precedes it. Dependentcoarising emphasizes the interconnectedness and interdependence of all existence. It suggests that nothing exists in isolation but rather arises in relation to other factors. This concept is often illustrated through the twelve links of dependent origination, which describe the cycle of suffering and rebirth, showing how ignorance leads to volitional formations, which in turn lead to consciousness, and so on. The understanding of dependentcoarising is considered crucial for developing wisdom and compassion, as it reveals the impermanent and conditioned nature of reality, thereby undermining clinging and attachment. It is not a simple linear causality but a complex web of mutual influence and emergence.
