Deoxidáció

Deoxidáció is a chemical process that involves the removal of oxygen from a substance. This can occur through various chemical reactions, often involving reducing agents that have a higher affinity for oxygen than the substance being deoxidized. In metallurgy, deoxidization is a crucial step in the production of metals, particularly steel. During steelmaking, oxygen is often present as an impurity that can negatively affect the metal's properties, leading to brittleness or reduced strength. Adding deoxidizing agents, such as silicon, aluminum, or manganese, during the refining process helps to bind with this unwanted oxygen, forming oxides that can be removed as slag.

The principle of deoxidization can be applied in other fields as well.
