Delmarva

Delmarva is a peninsula located on the Atlantic coast of the United States. It is comprised of parts of three states: Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. The name "Delmarva" is a portmanteau derived from the first few letters of each of these states. The peninsula is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay to the west and the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east.

Geographically, Delmarva is characterized by a relatively flat terrain with extensive coastal plains, marshes, and beaches. The climate is temperate, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Agriculture has historically been a significant part of Delmarva's economy, with crops such as corn, soybeans, and poultry being prominent. Tourism is also a major industry, particularly along the Atlantic coast, drawing visitors to its beaches and recreational areas.

The history of Delmarva is tied to early European colonization, with settlements established by both the English and the Swedes. The region played a role in the American Revolutionary War and the Civil War, though it remained largely agricultural and less industrialized than other parts of the Northeast. Today, Delmarva is a diverse region with a mix of rural communities and coastal resort towns, connected by bridges and ferries, most notably the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.
