Deinotherium
Deinotherium was a genus of extinct hominid mammals that lived from the early Miocene to the late Pleistocene epochs. They were characterized by their distinctive downward-curving tusks, which emerged from the lower jaw. These tusks are thought to have been used for a variety of purposes, including stripping bark from trees, digging for roots, or defense. Deinotherium belonged to the order Proboscidea, which also includes modern elephants and mammoths, but they represented a separate evolutionary lineage.
Fossils of Deinotherium have been found across Africa, Europe, and Asia, indicating a wide geographic distribution
The exact ecological role and behavior of Deinotherium are subjects of ongoing scientific research. Their extinction,
