Dehydraatioreagenssi is a chemical compound or mixture used to remove water molecules from other substances. This process, known as dehydration, can be employed in various chemical reactions and industrial applications. Dehydrating agents work by either physically absorbing the water or by chemically reacting with it, forming new stable compounds.

Common examples of dehydrating agents include concentrated sulfuric acid, phosphorus pentoxide, and anhydrous salts like calcium chloride or magnesium sulfate. These substances have a strong affinity for water. For instance, sulfuric acid is a powerful dehydrating agent because it readily forms hydrates with water.
