Dehu

Dehu is a town in the Pune district of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It lies near Pune and serves as a cultural hub for the surrounding rural areas, with historical and religious significance that attracts visitors from across the region.

The town is best known as the birthplace of the 17th-century Marathi saint Tukaram, a prominent figure in the Bhakti movement and the Varkari tradition. Tukaram’s hymns (abhangas) and devotional writings are central to the town’s heritage, and a temple complex dedicated to Tukaram—connected with his samadhi—is a major pilgrimage site. Devotees visit particularly during the annual Tukaram Janmotsav and other religious events that reflect the town’s enduring spiritual traditions.
