Degudic

Degudic is a fictional mineral described in speculative geology and worldbuilding literature. The name is said to derive from the Degud region in the imagined southern continent of Aridia, where the mineral is depicted as occurring most prominently. In the narratives, degudic is treated as an aluminosilicate phase with distinctive optical and physical properties.

Chemically, degudic is described as aluminum-rich with substitutions by iron and magnesium, and minor calcium and titanium. An idealized formula is given as (Al,Fe,Mg)2Si4O10(OH)2, with variable cations depending on formation conditions. It forms as short prismatic to fibrous crystals that may aggregate into radiating rosettes. The color ranges from pale blue to deep teal, aided by trace impurities such as copper and vanadium. It typically has a glassy to silky luster and a Mohs hardness around 6 to 7.

Geologically, degudic is depicted as forming in regional metamorphic environments and within vein systems that cut through granitic and sedimentary rocks. The type locality is the fictional Degud Ridge in Valoria Province. It is commonly associated with other aluminosilicates and chlorite or serpentine minerals in the described deposits.

In the narrative materials, degudic is valued for its aesthetic appeal and is sometimes used in jewelry or decorative carvings. It is also presented as a hypothetical marker mineral for metamorphic conditions, illustrating mineralogical diversity in worldbuilding settings.
