Definiram

Definiram is a Romanian verb form derived from the infinitive a defini, meaning to define. In contemporary standard Romanian, the common way to express a past action of defining is through the compound past with the auxiliary verb am or au (am definit, au definit). The form definiram is therefore generally regarded as archaic, literary, or dialectal, rather than a freely used everyday tense form. When it does appear, it signals a completed act of defining in the past, and its exact person and number depend on the subject of the sentence.

Etymology and formation

Definiram comes from the verb stem defin- attached to a past-tense ending. The root is from the Latin definire, which distributes as de- + finis, the sense of marking boundaries or giving an explanation.
