Decidualizációt refers to the transformation of the endometrium, the lining of the uterus, into decidua during pregnancy. This process is essential for the successful implantation and maintenance of the early embryo. Following ovulation, the uterine lining undergoes a series of changes under the influence of progesterone. These changes prepare the endometrium to receive and support a fertilized egg.

The decidualized endometrium is characterized by significant cellular and biochemical alterations. Stromal cells in the endometrium enlarge and differentiate into decidual cells, which are rich in glycogen and lipids. These cells also secrete various factors crucial for embryo development and immune tolerance, preventing the maternal immune system from rejecting the semi-allogeneic fetus.

Decidualizációt involves a complex interplay of hormones, growth factors, and signaling molecules. Progesterone is the primary hormone driving this transformation, working in concert with estrogen and other local factors.
