Datsyuk

Pavel Datsyuk is a Russian professional ice hockey center. He was born on July 20, 1978, in Sverdlovsk, Russia. Datsyuk began his professional career in Russia before moving to North America to play in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the ninth round, 171st overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Datsyuk made his NHL debut with the Red Wings in the 2001-02 season. He quickly became known for his exceptional puck-handling skills, speed, and offensive creativity, earning the nickname "The Magic Man." Over his tenure with Detroit, he won two Stanley Cups in 2002 and 2008. He also won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct three times and the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs in 2008.

After 14 seasons with the Red Wings, Datsyuk returned to Russia in 2016 to play in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He played for SKA Saint Petersburg and Ak Bars Kazan, winning the Gagarin Cup with both teams. Datsyuk represented the Russian national team in multiple international tournaments, including the Winter Olympics and the IIHF World Championships. He retired from professional hockey in 2022.
