Dansgaard
Dansgaard refers to a period of abrupt climate change that occurred during the last glacial period. These events are named after Willi Dansgaard, a Danish scientist who, along with his colleagues, first identified them in ice core records from Greenland in the early 1980s. Dansgaard-Oeschger events, as they are formally known, are characterized by rapid warming followed by a slower cooling back to glacial conditions. They typically occurred over decades, with temperatures in Greenland rising by as much as 10-16 degrees Celsius within a very short period.
