Daewongun
Daewongun, born Yi Ha-eung in 1820, is the posthumous title of Heungseon Daewongun, a Korean statesman of the Joseon dynasty and father of King Gojong. He served as regent for his son during the early years of Gojong’s reign, effectively governing the country from around 1864 to 1873.
