DMRGbaserede

DMRGbaserede refers to methods and algorithms that are based on the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) technique. DMRG is a powerful numerical algorithm originally developed for studying one-dimensional quantum many-body systems. It is particularly effective at finding the ground state and low-lying excited states of such systems, especially those with a large number of interacting particles.

The core idea behind DMRG is to progressively truncate the Hilbert space of the system while preserving the most important degrees of freedom. This is achieved by systematically blocking sites together and then performing a "renormalization" step on the density matrix of the system. This process effectively reduces the computational complexity, allowing for the study of systems that would otherwise be intractable.

DMRGbaserede approaches have been extended beyond their original one-dimensional applications. While direct application to higher dimensions remains challenging due to the exponential growth of the Hilbert space, adaptations and related tensor network methods, such as Matrix Product States (MPS) which are closely related to DMRG, have been developed. These methods allow for the investigation of more complex systems, including some two-dimensional models, and have found applications in condensed matter physics, quantum chemistry, and other fields where accurate solutions for quantum systems are required. The effectiveness of DMRGbaserede methods stems from their ability to efficiently capture strong correlations in quantum systems.
