DC power supplies come in various forms, including linear and switching designs. Linear power supplies are known for their low noise and stable output but can be inefficient, especially at higher power levels. Switching power supplies, on the other hand, are generally more efficient and compact but can introduce more electrical noise. The choice between these types depends on the specific application requirements regarding efficiency, size, cost, and noise sensitivity.
