Dämmplatten

Dämmplatten, also known as insulation boards, are rigid or semi-rigid panels used in construction for thermal insulation. They are designed to reduce heat transfer, thereby improving energy efficiency in buildings. Dämmplatten are manufactured from a variety of materials, each with distinct properties and applications. Common materials include expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), mineral wool, polyurethane (PUR), and polyisocyanurate (PIR).

EPS and XPS are lightweight, rigid foam boards derived from petroleum. EPS is characterized by its white, bead-like structure, while XPS has a smoother, denser, and often colored appearance. Both offer good thermal resistance and are moisture-resistant, making them suitable for various applications, including walls, roofs, and foundations. Mineral wool, made from molten rock or slag, provides excellent fire resistance and acoustic insulation in addition to thermal properties. PUR and PIR foams are known for their high insulation value per unit thickness and are often used where space is limited.

The selection of Dämmplatten depends on factors such as required thermal performance (R-value), moisture resistance, fire safety regulations, structural load-bearing capacity, and cost. They are typically installed by mechanically fastening, adhering, or fitting them into place within building envelopes, such as external walls, internal walls, floors, and roofs. Proper installation is crucial to avoid thermal bridging and ensure the effectiveness of the insulation.
