Czechvar

Czechvar is a lager produced in the Czech Republic. It is brewed by Pivovar České Budějovice, a brewery located in the city of České Budějovice (Budweis). The beer's name is derived from the German name for the city, Budweis, which is "Böhmisch Budweis". This naming has led to a long-standing trademark dispute with the American brewery Anheuser-Busch, which also produces a beer called Budweiser. The Czech beer is often marketed internationally as "Budweiser Budvar" to distinguish it from the American product.

The brewing tradition in České Budějovice dates back to the 13th century. Czechvar is known for its pale lager style, characterized by its golden color, moderate hop bitterness, and smooth finish. It is brewed using traditional methods, including the use of Saaz hops, a noble hop variety native to the region, and Moravian malt. The beer undergoes a long maturation period, contributing to its complex flavor profile and excellent drinkability.
