Cybertron

Cybertron is a fictional planet and the homeworld of the Transformers, a race of sentient, transforming machines. Introduced in the 1980s as part of the Transformers media franchise, the planet appears across comics, animated series, toys, films, and video games. In most continuities, Cybertron is a metal planet whose surface hosts vast urban and industrial landscapes, many built within or beneath the planet’s crust, connected by an intricate network of cities and infrastructure. Its inhabitants are Cybertronians, including the well-known factions Autobots and Decepticons, who can morph between humanoid forms and various vehicle or weapon configurations.

Cybertron’s history is defined by conflict and political upheaval. The Autobots are generally depicted as defenders of life and freedom, whereas the Decepticons seek conquest and resource control. Central to many stories are life-energy concepts such as the Spark, which is the consciousness or soul of a Transformer, and Energon, a primary power source. Legendary artifacts such as Vector Sigma and the AllSpark appear in different versions as creators of life or catalysts for transformation.

Geopolitically, Cybertron has been portrayed as a highly advanced technocratic world with factions, councils, and fleets, and it often serves as a staging ground for battles that reach other planets and species, including Earth. The planet’s various retellings contribute to a flexible canon, allowing reinterpretations across media.

Cybertron remains a core element of the Transformers canon, symbolizing the coexistence of sentient technology and the consequences of civil war on a planetary scale.
