Cuantificable

Cuantificable is a Spanish adjective meaning capable of being quantified or expressed in numerical terms. The term derives from the verb cuantificar (to quantify) plus the suffix -able. In English, the closest equivalents are quantifiable or measurable. The word is commonly used in scientific, economic, and social frameworks to describe variables, outcomes, or phenomena that can be assigned numeric values.

A cuantificable variable can be measured with an appropriate instrument or method, such as length, weight, time, or standardized scores. Quantification involves defining an operationalization of a concept so that data can be collected, analyzed, and compared. Researchers often refer to measurement scales—nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio—and emphasize reliability and validity to ensure that cuantificable measurements accurately reflect the intended construct.

Not all phenomena are easily cuantificable. Qualitative approaches remain important when numerical measurement is impractical, unethical, or could obscure context. Debates about cuantificabilidad frequently address the balance between precision and ecological validity, the potential for measurement bias, and the risk of oversimplifying complex phenomena by reducing them to numbers.
