Csuklótörés

Csuklótörés refers to a fracture of one or more of the bones in the wrist. The most common bone to break is the distal radius, which is the larger bone in the forearm on the thumb side, near the wrist joint. Fractures can also occur in the ulna, the other forearm bone, or in the small carpal bones that make up the wrist itself.

The primary cause of a csuklótörés is typically a fall onto an outstretched hand, a mechanism known as a FOOSH injury. This sudden impact can transfer enough force to break the bone. Other causes include direct trauma to the wrist, such as a blow or impact during sports, or in more severe cases, high-energy accidents like car crashes. Osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones, can make them more susceptible to fractures even from minor injuries.

Symptoms of a csuklótörés usually include immediate and severe pain in the wrist, swelling, bruising, and tenderness. The wrist may appear deformed, and it can be difficult or impossible to move the hand or fingers. There may also be a sensation of crunching or grinding at the time of injury.

Diagnosis is typically made through a physical examination and confirmed with X-rays. In some cases, a CT scan or MRI may be needed for a more detailed view of the fracture. Treatment depends on the type and severity of the fracture. Many distal radius fractures can be treated non-surgically with casting or splinting to immobilize the broken bone and allow it to heal. More complex fractures, those that are significantly displaced, or involve joint surfaces, may require surgery to realign the bone fragments and stabilize them with plates, screws, or pins. Physical therapy is often a crucial part of the recovery process to regain strength, flexibility, and full function of the wrist.
