Családmodellek refers to the various structures and forms that families can take. Historically, the most common model in many Western societies was the nuclear family, consisting of a mother, father, and their biological children. However, societal changes and evolving norms have led to a broader understanding and acceptance of diverse family structures.

One common variation is the single-parent family, where one parent is solely responsible for raising the children. This can arise due to divorce, separation, or the death of a partner. Another significant model is the blended or reconstituted family, which forms when individuals with children from previous relationships come together. These families often involve step-parents and step-siblings, requiring adaptation and integration.

Extended families, where multiple generations live together or maintain close proximity and interdependence, are also a prevalent family model, particularly in some cultures. This can include grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins playing active roles in the upbringing of children.

Furthermore, same-sex parent families, where two parents of the same sex raise children, have become increasingly recognized and accepted. These families are formed through various means, including adoption, surrogacy, or previous relationships. Childless couples or individuals who choose not to have children also represent a valid family model, focusing their companionship and support within their partnership or chosen community.
