This method involves the use of low concentrations of cryoprotectants, such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) or glycerol, to permeabilize the cell membrane at sub-zero temperatures. This permeabilization allows the cryoprotectants to enter the cells more easily, protecting them from the damaging effects of ice formation during freezing.

The process of cryoperekseerimiseks typically involves several steps. First, cells are exposed to a low concentration of cryoprotectant at room temperature. This concentration is usually much lower than that used in conventional cryopreservation methods. The cells are then cooled slowly to a temperature just below the freezing point of the cryoprotectant, typically around -10°C to -20°C. Upon thawing, the cells are warmed slowly to room temperature, allowing the cryoprotectant to leave the cells gradually. This slow warming helps to prevent the formation of ice crystals, which can damage the cells. The cryoprotectant is then removed, and the cells can be used for further experimentation or analysis.
