Crawfordsville

Crawfordsville is a city in Montgomery County, Indiana, United States. It is the county seat and a regional commercial and educational center along Sugar Creek. Founded in 1823 and laid out by land developers, Crawfordsville grew as an agricultural hub and transportation waypoint in west-central Indiana. Historic downtown contains numerous 19th‑century buildings around Court House Square, and the Montgomery County Courthouse anchors the square.

One of the city's most prominent institutions is Wabash College, a private liberal arts college for men founded in 1832, which remains a major cultural and educational presence. A notable local landmark is the Rotary Jail and Museum, a late‑19th‑century jail once renowned for its rotating cell block; it is preserved as a historic site open to visitors.
