Couvats

Couvats, also known as covades or covade syndrome, is a phenomenon observed in some cultures where expectant fathers experience physical symptoms similar to those of their pregnant partners. These symptoms can include nausea, weight gain, cravings, abdominal pain, and even labor pains. The exact origins and mechanisms of couvats are not fully understood, but it is believed to be a psychosomatic response, a form of sympathetic pregnancy.

The practice of couvats has been documented in various societies across the globe, with different cultural interpretations and rituals surrounding it. In some traditions, the father's participation in these symptoms is seen as a way to share the burden of pregnancy, bond with the mother and child, or even to ward off evil spirits.
