Counterdies

A counterdie is a tool component that forms, supports, or blanks a workpiece by providing the opposing surface in a forming operation. In metal stamping, a punch or forming tool creates a feature by pressing the material into a counterdie, which is typically a hardened block or cavity that defines the geometry on the opposite side of the part. The counterdie works together with the die and punch to shape, cut, emboss, or draw parts in a press.
