CoulombMohr

CoulombMohr is a constitutive model used in geomechanics and soil mechanics to describe the failure behavior of soils and rocks. It is a generalization of the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. The CoulombMohr model defines the conditions under which a material will fail or yield based on the stresses acting upon it.

The model incorporates both the shear strength of the material and the effect of the normal stress acting perpendicular to the failure plane. Specifically, it relates the shear strength to the cohesion of the material and the angle of internal friction. The failure surface in principal stress space is conical.

The CoulombMohr model is widely used in numerical simulations, such as finite element analysis, to predict the behavior of geotechnical structures like slopes, foundations, and tunnels. It is considered a relatively simple yet effective model for many practical applications, although it has limitations in accurately representing the complex behavior of certain soils under varying stress conditions. Its simplicity makes it computationally efficient for engineering design and analysis.
