Correctnessaffect is a proposed cognitive–emotional construct describing the affective response elicited by judgments or information perceived as correct or incorrect. It encompasses emotions such as relief, satisfaction, pride, frustration, or embarrassment and can influence motivation, attention, and subsequent information processing.

The concept sits at the intersection of epistemic emotions and metacognition. It is not a standard measure of accuracy itself but a retroactive affective evaluation that accompanies assessments of correctness, and it can be modulated by factors such as expertise, feedback reliability, salience of error, and the stakes of the outcome.

Measurement and study methods: researchers may present statements with known or manipulated correctness and record self-reported affect using Likert scales, along with behavioral indicators (response time, persistence) and physiological signals. Experimental designs may manipulate feedback consistency and expertise cues to observe changes in correctnessaffect.

Applications and implications: in education, correctnessaffect can shape learning engagement and persistence after mistakes; in information design, it can affect trust and willingness to accept feedback; in misinformation mitigation, perceived correctness can trigger downstream emotional reactions that influence corrective action.
