Concavepeilillä

Concavepeilillä is a Finnish term that translates to "concave mirror" in English. A concave mirror is a spherical mirror that has a reflective surface curving inward. This inward curve causes parallel light rays that strike the mirror to converge at a focal point.

The focal length of a concave mirror is positive, and it is defined as half the radius of curvature of the mirror's surface. The image formed by a concave mirror can be real or virtual, inverted or upright, and magnified or diminished, depending on the position of the object relative to the mirror.

When an object is placed beyond the focal point of a concave mirror, a real, inverted image is formed. If the object is placed between the focal point and the mirror, a virtual, upright, and magnified image is produced. When the object is placed exactly at the focal point, the reflected rays become parallel, and no image is formed.

Concave mirrors have numerous practical applications. They are commonly used in telescopes to gather and focus light from distant celestial objects, allowing for magnified views. They are also found in headlights of vehicles, where they are used to project a strong, focused beam of light.
