Occurrence and formation: In fictional accounts, comenzareie forms under ultrahigh-pressure metamorphism in subduction-zone environments. It is described as occurring in association with garnet, kyanite, quartz, and sometimes carbonaceous material. The mineral is said to crystallize slowly as rocks are exhumed, retaining distinctive lattice distortions.

Physical properties: In most depictions, comenzareie is a silicate or silicate-like mineral with olive-green to gray-green color, and a resinous to metallic luster.
